About Me
Finding yourself an accredited Therapist
To become an accredited therapist I have gone through a rigorous application and assessment process, providing evidence of my knowledge, skills and practice. Accredited therapists are bound by strict ethical frame work and adherence to their regulatory bodies’ code of conduct and code of ethics. Accredited therapists are required to continue demonstrating safe practice through continuing professional development, following the recommendations set out by the NICE Guidelines, regular supervision and keeping up to date with their accreditation.
You can find me amongst a list of accredited therapists on the BABCP website http://www.cbtregisteruk.com/ and Nayyab Sarwar – EMDR Association UK – Overcoming trauma with expert help

My professional background
I started my journey into public health service through working within the substance misuse field both in statutory and non statutory services, supporting patients in the community achieve abstinence from their drug or alcohol addiction. My enthusiasm to work with complexity soon led to the move from a supporting role to a practitioner role managing a case load of 40 clients. Although I found the work rewarding I noticed that addiction and mental health went hand in hand and so my interest in mental health continued to grow. I could identify additional support needs of my clients apart from the addiction and recognised the mental struggles they endured. This is when I decided to embark on a career in therapy.
I have over 8 years of experience working for the NHS, in a primary care setting providing therapy to adults aged 18 plus and the private sector.
I started my journey as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with personal injury clients and legal medico work. I then progressed onto working for the NHS where my current role is of a Highly Specialist Psychological Therapist.
I treat mild to moderate anxiety and depressive disorders using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Analysis Systems of Psychotherapy (CBASP) which is an evidence based treatment for recurring persistent depression or otherwise known as Chronic Depression that results in interpersonal difficulties. I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and have an immense interest and success in working with trauma patients displaying PTSD symptoms. I have Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Skills level 2 which enables me to teach DBT skills in a group setting or to individuals who are diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and need the skills to manage their emotions/or interpersonal difficulties. I have facilitated the DBT Skills group within the service I work for with very good outcomes. Finally, my recent training has been in Schema Therapy which enables me to work with clients with traits or a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or better known as now Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Schema Therapy can also be used for individuals who are clinically appropriate for a schema intervention.
Apart from the day to day running of the service, I play an active role within the service offering clinical supervision, case consultations, as well as developing and facilitating CPPD and training workshop for psychological well being practitioners and other staff members as part of service development. I also feel proud to have piloted the first trauma group within Greater Manchester region, for survivors of the Manchester Arena terrorist attack in 2017. This entailed delivering Cognitive Processing Therapy in a group setting.
Although it is not always possible to recover everyone due to various factors, I take pride in achieving a recovery rate always above the national average. I continue working for the NHS but I am also looking to build on my private practice. Schedule an appointment today and see what I can do for you.
